a random Wednesday

Without much planning on my part, I ended up being an entrepreneur.

(I planned on being a college professor, teaching psychology to undergrads at some liberal arts school near mountains.)

Looking back, I can see now that it was really my only option.

Why?

Because I never liked authority.

I don't like taking shit from anyone. Never been much good at that.

I don't like being told how to do anything.

If you can show me how your way is better, I'll do it that way. But if you're telling me to do it that way, just because… Um, no. That's just dumb.

I don't like someone telling me when I have to work.

I don't like someone (or some corporate entity) telling me how much I deserve to compensated.

I don't like dealing with people I'd rather not deal with.

I could go on an on about what I don't like, but you get the idea.

And I am just using these examples as a jumping off point to tell you what I love about being an entrepreneur.

You can flip all the previous statements around, but here's what I love the most…

I love the FREEDOM that being an entrepreneur allows me to experience.

I share this simply because that's what I want for everyone who resonates with creating more freedom, ease, and connection in their lives.

You can do it.

The most important thing is deciding that you want a life of freedom, a life where you decide your course (rather then allowing others to nudge you off course).

Next, you must be clear in asking for what you want. Exactly.

While this sounds simple, this is where most people fall off the wagon. You were likely never taught to ask for exactly what you want. Or to believe you can have it just because you want it.

Who do you think you are?  Good luck with that! Life just doesn't work that way, kiddo.

Here's the thing…

Being an entrepreneur isn't a career…

It's a mindset.

A mindset that values FREEDOM above all else.

And here's the interesting thing… the more you consciously design your life around freedom, the more freedom you will attract into your life. 

That's how it works. And I think that's just a fantastic thing. Total magic. I want for everyone in the world to experience it.

Of course, not everyone's interested. Not everyone can hear what I am saying. In fact, I'm sure some people find it rather irritating.

But if you are interested in creating a life filled with FREEDOM, the cool thing is that it's all learnable. The only question is whether you are investing in yourself to learn it.

Finally, allow me to share the inspiration for this post. Something that hit me while I was brushing my teeth this morning, thinking about the things I appreciate in my life.

You know what I appreciate most about having an entrepreneurial mindset?

It's that random Wednesday when I’m hiking with a friend in the Adirondack mountains, when we have a magnificent mountaintop to ourselves because everyone else is working.

In those moments I am the wealthiest man in the world. I have all I could ever want.

It's a feeling that thrills me beyond description.

And I want that feeling for everyone.

That said, should you decide to join me in a life of freedom, let's agree that everyone picks a different day to hike though… okay?
