Kayaking Lake George, NY

Drew and Chris in an early morning scrambling to get out of camp, packed, and hit the lake. There was no place to launch the boat on the southern tip of Lake George. So we pulled over the curb, crossed the sidewalk, and started the recon mission to launch before Johnny Law showed up.

Too bad we didn't get a shot of the sheriff! (I let Chris do the talking and just kept preparing for launch). It's tourist season! We just acted like we were official and kept unloading.
The boats and everything we carried. Dry bags rule. (Ted Chittenden took all the pre-launch photos... plus he drove us to the launch... many, many thanks Ted. We could not have done it without you...) Almost ready. It begins.
Launch with the Lac du St. Sacrament in the background. Adieu. 32+ miles to go...
Open water. Chris Chris reapplies.
After 2 hours of paddling, we stop for a quick snack and a swim on Long Island. Some sites have tent platform like this one (none of ours did). Approaching Dome Island. Was a tough paddle from Long Island to Dome Island. Dome Island is impenetrable. The land raised straight out of the water and there is no good place to dock a boat. We needed a rest and there was nothing else nearby, so we were the only humans on the island for about 10 minutes before heading to Bolton Landing.
